The images in this website were created with a variety of techniques, including traditional and digital painting and and drawing. Unless otherwise noted, all of the images were created from scratch, without the use of photos or other pre-fabricated elements.More specifically..... ....The landscapes, and other paintingd mages were created using traditional techniques and digital tools. In some cases, I sketched the basic picture on paper, scanned it into the compiter, and did further painting and refinement digitally. In other cases, the entire images was created and finished within the computer. Although the tools are digital, the methods and skills involved are very similar to traditional drawing and painting. A In digital painting, you being with an empty surface on the screen that the same as a blank canvas. Then you use digital "brushes" and "paints" to draw and refine the shapes, layer on the surface anhd colors and follow the other traditional techniques that a painter would use. The brushes and paint in digital painting software behave just like their physical counterparts. They adhere to the surface, are pushed, smeared and mixed by the painter's brush in the same way as physical paint does. A digital airbrush responds just like a real airbrish; digital oil paint behaves like physical oil paint, etc. ![]() I use several painting and processing software programs for the painting. I rely most heavily on Painter, a software program now published by Corel. This program is the most lifelike and comprehensive package I've run across. It's also one of the more expensive ones, costing several hundreds of dollars. However, if you would like to try your hand at it, you don't need to invest that much -- or anything. There are numserous other painting programs that cost between about $20 up to around $150. There are also some trial versions you can download for free, for limited use. Just Google around and you'll find them. There is also a FREE program that is very similar to Painter. It is called Artweaver. It has many similar features, but is a different program. The author has chosen to offer this free, with no strings attached. It is available at the Artweaver website. |
